John Blair presided over the Council and acted as Governor of Virginia from Gov. Dinwiddie's January 1758 departure until the June 1758 arrival of Gov. Fauquier. He served the same position again, following Gov. Fauquier's death, until the arrival of Lord Botetourt. John Blair served as president of the Council and acting governor of Virginia from the time Governor Dinwiddie left Virginia in January 1758 until Governor Fauquier arrived in June of that year.
